Animal Testing Is Right Or Wrong - 1978 Words

There was a man named Immanuel Kant, who once said, â€Å"He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.† This paper will be covering the moral issue on animal testing and whether animal testing is right or wrong. I will be applying the theories of Deontological, Utilitarianism and Virtue Ethics viewpoints on animal testing and then see which moral issue is better. Animal testing is a very relevant and debatable moral issue. It is when scientists take animals and run different kinds of test on them to see what reaction occur from the animal. Scientists test drugs, vaccines, and cosmetics on animals before the drug or cosmetic is distributed out for the public to use. Usually, these tests do not just involve one animal during tests, they involve many. This is due to the use of multiple animals for more detailed test results. In 2013, over 100 million animals were used in some sort of testing, w hether testing for medical research, or used in a high school science laboratory. (Peta) The article How much does the public support animal research? Depends on the question, shows data that many people do not understand animal testing or are unaware of it. The author of the article, Jeffery Mervis, ran a survey, to see what people thought about animal testing. He did this survey several times.
